Had originally written it for a theme song opportunity that didn’t work out. Signed it a few months ago with a great LA publisher. Glad to see it finding some usage already

Music on ABC’s “Back To The Beginning” with Christiane Amampour

Tune into ABC tonight (December 28th, 2012) @ 9pm ET for “Back To The Beginning” with Christiane Amampour. The show will be featuring two songs I co-produced with Steven Wesley Guiles. Last Friday part 1 of this two part series was the #1 show on television with over 5 million viewers. One of the songs is this public domain adaptation of Battle Hymn of The Republic:

We also produced another custom piece of music, an adaptation of Joshua Won the Battle of Jericho. This one I cannot share but you may hear it tonight at 9pm ET on ABC.

Hello friends,

14 months ago I made the decision to join a service called TAXI. Taxi.com is a company that acts as an A&R for independent artists. They screen and forward our music to labels, TV, and Film. I wanted to explore the idea of getting my music into Film and Television specifically. Thanks to Taxi I have been learning a great deal about producing in ways that will work and be successful in this industry. I also had the pleasure of attending their annual conference in LA this year. I can honestly say it was one of the most transformational weekends of my life. Surrounded by other musicians and industry people that are just as passionate about music as I am, was just amazing. And the courses offered were top notch and so inspiring. Already looking forward to next year

I’ve been writing music in several different genres. Some I had never written in before. I’ve pushed myself to write for quick turnaround listings where you only have a couple of hours to come up with something brand new, record, mix, master and submit. I quickly learned that my music was not hitting the mark in today’s competitive market. I received many returned tracks but then some forwards started to occur. I’m happy to say that as of last month things have started to happen. One of my forwards resulted in a deal with a TV show for a major cable network. I also signed on as a composer with a music production library. They have since accepted 17 of my tracks into their exclusive library. They provide music for 30+ current TV shows and for Film and advertising.

The last couple of weeks have been quite exciting to say the least. And to think that I was so close to not renewing my membership with Taxi. The track I submitted after my renewal was the one that started opening doors for me. I think the moral of the story is the we should never give up on our dream. I’m glad I didn’t and now am one little step closer to realizing it.

Coming Home – free download

Coming Home was created for a TV commercial opportunity a few months ago. The requirement was in the Indie Folk genre “a la” Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Fleet Foxes, Noah and the Whale. Unfortunately I didn’t make the deadline but ended up with a different track that certainly stands on its own but may be re-used for other opportunities. It is now available as a free download on soundcloud. Enjoy! and please re-share.

Seasons – now available!!!

Seasons is now available via the official store (aka bandcamp).

The song was written with film and television in mind. My focus this fall has switched to include that industry. So far I’ve had two forwards in my first 3 months! That is a wonderful thing as the bar is VERY high for these. Seasons was inspired by the beauty of the changing seasons in northern Ontario and the current self reflective period of my life.

Sorry it’s been a while since posting on my own site. But for those following me on twitter and facebook you know by now I’ve refocused some of my energies this fall toward producing and pitching to film and television. It’s a very interesting industry that has really opened my eyes already to new possibilities. Of course it is highly competitive and as such it is pushing me to improve all my skills further.

The first new original track that I pitched is called “Seasons”. A singer-songwriter song with folk sensibilities. As always my lyrics reflect my truth in the moment. No difference here. But I’ll leave the interpretation for all of you to contemplate


Would love some feedback on the song.

Discovery album released
Hello Friends! I’m happy to announce the release of the Discovery album. The response to it via iTunes has been fantastic so it has become an official album. It is more of a compilation of the tracks put together in the last few years. From my store it is Name your Price with a $4 minimum.
I’ve also engaged in a promotional compain to college and community radio across North America. So far I’ve been able to place a few songs into rotation at a few stations   Care to help? If you have suggestions for stations or know anyone in radio please let me know and I can provide a copy of the album. Every little bit helps!
















 



 
Fetal Pulse: Cityscapes 
The Fetal Pulse album is now out as well. 10- tracks including Revelation, Conception, and the title track Cityscapes. Promotion is going well with several placements in radio. Again if you care to help be in touch  






 




New Music?



I’ve been receiving a lost of emails,  and messages regarding new music.  ”Pedro, do you have a new single coming soon?“. And all I can say is Yes. The definition off soon though may vary   I never expected for the Fetal Pulse project to happen, it just did. Between it and the time it takes to package the album and promote it, it has put the creation of new music on the back burner a little. The good news is that just last night the guitar was picked up again and a few vocal tracks were recorded  
The demo I posted tentatively titled “For Love” is still on my target list. Among with many other ideas, new and old.

More radio play in Canada :)

I recently launched a promotion campaign focused on North American College and Community radio stations.
The promotion is for both the Fetal Pulse album Cityscapes and the new Pedro Costa compilation album Discovery. It’s a very nerve racking experience as you invest money and time with no real guaranteed results. But such is the nature of the business side.
Normally even if something happens you have to follow up with the station music directors and hope for an answer. Yesterday something different happened. I was contacted by the music director from a radio station here in Ontario and told my song Fooled Again? was going to be added to their playlist  
It was a fantastic way to start the week and gave me hope and encouragement to keep pushing myself in the not so fun task of promotion. I love the making of the music, not so much the tedious yet needed task of promotion. If only I had a promoter to help me out. Any takers?
